About the Role
The role sits within the CIO Office position and forms part of a team responsible for supporting the implementation of Chief Investment Officer's target operating model, which includes
(1) asset class coverage of public markets (equities, fixed income, equity and fixed income derivatives) and/or private markets (private credit, private equity, real estate)
(2) returns and liability management through company-wide Strategic Asset Allocation, and Portfolio Optimisation and Enhancement
(3) designing investment strategies and objectives to support product development and product competitiveness
(4) investment monitoring and analytics function in supporting annual strategy planning exercise, investment solution or strategy formulation, and supporting Finance and ERM functions
(5) investment governance and related reporting requirements to external stakeholders and regulators.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the company-wide strategic asset allocation and portfolio optimization and enhancement processes, so as to maximise investment outcome and enhance asset and lability management
- Co-lead coverage of either public and/or private markets, and the associated annual strategic planning exercise for assets and investment division for the planned period
- Lead and continuously enhance the investment governance framework, ensuring robust controls, operational efficiency and compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee investment governance, surveillance and control activities, including asset exposure monitoring, investment risk limits, mandate
- compliance, monthly investment sign-offs, regulatory reporting and governance committees.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on investment regulations, proactively managing regulatory change implementation and ensuring compliance with MAS requirements and evolving regulatory expectations. Facilitate monthly investment sign-off to support month-end closing and regular regulatory filing to external parties and regulators
- Perform gap / impact analysis relating to governance protocols/ updates and regulatory notices to ensure the Company's smooth transition to the new requirements. Share the responsibility of ensuring the adherence to internal governance protocols, while strengthening the control environment (as 1st Line of defense) and to facilitate the governance, risk and compliance culture, together with 2nd and 3rd Line of defense at AIA Singapore.
- Champion process optimisation, automation and continuous improvement to strengthen governance effectiveness, improve operational efficiency and enhance the overall control environment.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education
A good Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Risk Management or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA or Master's degree) and/or professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, FRM, CA (Singapore), CPA or equivalent will be an advantage.
Experience and key skillsets
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in life insurance company or banks, or asset management companies, with a focus on governance, compliance, or process optimization.
- Relevant investment background with experience in equity, fixed income securities and derivatives in a substantially sized fund or fund of funds.
- Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis relating to portfolio construction, investment strategies, manager selection and performance attribution.
- Demonstrated experience in investment governance, regulatory compliance, risk & controls, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving and enterprise-wide perspective.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, influencing and negotiation skills across all levels of the organisation.
- Collaborative, adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, execution discipline and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Intellectual curiosity with a continuous learning mindset and a strong understanding of financial markets and investment products.
- Familiar with Bloomberg and MS office application. Practical experience using Data visualization softwares
