What is the opportunity?
The Finance department includes a number of teams such as Financial Control & Reporting, Management Reporting, Product Control and Taxation. They are is responsible for providing up-to-date financial performance results and management information to support the business. The London Financial Control and Reporting team is responsible for London and Dubai's financial accounting and reporting related activities.
The key requirements of this role would involve maintaining the integrity, accuracy and completeness of various aspects of financial accounting and reporting in accordance with HO accounting policy and reporting requirements, preparation of various local regulatory financial reporting information to be submitted to the BoE, PRA etc., support the rollout of various new product initiatives which impact financial accounting as well as supporting various system upgrade/replacement initiatives.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified accountant with strong numerical and analytical skillsets, a good understanding of how a corporate bank works with some awareness of various corporate banking products, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment and display a positive, results oriented attitude.

What will you be doing?
- Responsible for various aspects of financial accounting and control, including various month end/quarter-end adjustments, system and account reconciliations, ledger close etc. as well as the accuracy and completeness of the final trial balance
- Manage and develop the balance sheet substantiation process
- Preparation of various HO submissions in accordance with HO financial reporting requirements
- Preparation of various monthly/quarterly regulatory financial reporting information to be submitted to BoE, PRA etc.
- Assist with the monthly FX P&L covering process
- Assist with the fee accrual process
- Assist with preparation/review of periodic audit confirmations and associated queries
- Support ongoing SOX related aspects including documentation, liaising with SOX auditors to complete SOX controls/testing
- Liaise with External auditors to support various quarterly/annual audit related activities
- Support various new product rollout initiatives and implementation of system changes/upgrades from a finance perspective, including getting involved in the roll-out of the IT transformation project
- Work with the wider Finance team and other stakeholders to identify and implement changes and enhancements to current processes for improving controls and efficiency
- Act as cover/backup for other members of the team and support cross-training initiatives
- Work with various parts of the organisation including the business and operations department, to problem solve issues and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the financial statements
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with relevant experience in a banking/financial services environment and/or Big 4 audit firm
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound awareness and appreciation of controls, and proven ability to apply a control mindset
- Strong Excel skills and good numerical and analytical skillsets
- Be inquisitive and unafraid to ask questions in order to understand and advise on financial matters
- Demonstrable ability to innovate, support change and problem solve
- Good knowledge of the Banking Industry and ability to apply relevant accounting knowledge to existing and new banking products
