Investment Analyst, Infrastructure Private Equity

CDPQ is a Québec financial institution that manages funds mainly from public and private insurance and pension plans. With CAD 452 billion in assets under management as at June 30, 2024, CDPQ is one of the largest institutional fund managers and invests worldwide in a number of asset classes, including equities, bonds, real estate, private equity, and infrastructure assets.

CDPQ currently ranks as the largest institutional infrastructure investor in the world. The infrastructure portfolio comprises over CAD 60 billion in assets worldwide, including leading European assets such as Eurostar, Heathrow Airport,Akiem, Streem, ATC Europe, Keolis, or the Velto Renewables platform.

The team aims to deploy capital by acquiring substantial, often controlling, stakes in large-cap companies. This approach provides us significant influence over their strategy, their operations and sustainable development.

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated investment analyst to join our European Infrastructure team, based in Paris. As an analyst, you will be an integral part of the investment process into infrastructure equity opportunities. The role comprises assessing investment opportunities as well as supporting the team in managing the current portfolio companies, which includes working directly with their management teams, evaluating add-on investments, refinancings and divestitures.

This represents a unique opportunity to work and develop professionally alongside a team of experienced investors in a stimulating and collaborative environment, while getting exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects and complex transactions.

What you will do
  • Active participation in analyzing investment proposals;
  • Develop and review detailed financial models and highlight the key points of the investment thesis, including performing sensitivity analyses, review of financial projections and valuation assumptions;
  • Provide advice on evaluating potential investments using the appropriate methodology (discounted cash flow, multiples, etc.);
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conduct thorough due diligence on infrastructure investment opportunities;
  • Lead the drafting of investment committee memos for new investment opportunities;
  • Assist main collaborators with negotiating agreements and shareholding structures;
  • Prepare internal and external reports on portfolio companies;
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory developments affecting infrastructure investments, and prepare sectoral studies on potential target markets to develop.

What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or engineering;
  • Master's in financing, MBA or CFA would be considered an asset;
  • Solid understanding in financial analysis and modelling;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and demanding environment;
  • Proficiency in English and French, both spoken and written.
