De Lage Landen is seeking to appoint an experienced Business controller who will be responsible for executing and advising on financial- and business planning and control as well as supporting the business as subject matter expert, in order to enable management to lead the organization in an effective and efficient manner and continuously optimize results.

Overview

The business controller will be part of the business controlling function and responsible for the preparation of various reports and analyses. The role is typically suitable for an experienced professional with several years of experience and looking for a next career step in a highly international oriented successful company. The business controller will have a direct reporting line to the Country Finance Manager.

Day to day:

  • Business Planning: contribute to the development of the business strategy and/or planning at country level from a finance perspective, ensure local alignment and advise management on issues and/or opportunities;
  • Financial Planning & Control Cycle: plan, organize, coordinate and execute the financial planning and control cycle at country level and advise management on forecasting, budgeting and strategy execution; plan business funding with treasury central team.
  • Business Control: develop and maintain the business controls, in line with DLL In Control Framework, and pro-actively monitor, analyze and challenge business performance on a periodical (monthly) basis;
  • Financial Advice: advise, monitor and support the business as a subject matter expert on finance matters and management KPI-s and metrics, educate key stakeholders on risk based pricing and liaise with Sales managers on implementing and managing pricing authorization / policies;
  • Reporting: ensure the development, preparation and proper execution of (consolidated) periodical and ad hoc reports for business management and external supervisory authority.
  • Projects: participate in local and/or regional (improvement) projects to implement new financial systems, procedures and processes

Essentials:

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting or controlling
  • At least 5 years' experience in a finance organization in a business- or financial control role
  • Knowledge of accounting, local statutory requirements and International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS")
  • Must have advanced MS-Excel skills and ability to create / executive analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify, frame and solve business issues
  • Excellent influencing skills, initiative, assertiveness and decisiveness
  • Empathic and good at building relationships
  • Knowledge of French, but also good command of English (both spoken and written)
