Description

The successful candidate will support the evaluation and execution of investment opportunities, focusing on providing comprehensive financial analysis and assisting with the entire transaction lifecycle. The role involves close collaboration with local and regional teams to ensure successful project delivery and value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling and Analysis:
- Collaborate in the semi-annual valuation of the Cubico portfolio, including updating financial models for the latest assumptions and running sensitivity analysis together with the Valuations team.
- Develop, refine, and maintain complex financial models to support investment decisions, portfolio evaluations, and transaction structuring.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis, including sensitivity analysis, scenario testing, and risk assessment to identify and evaluate investment opportunities.
- Support the preparation of valuation models, investment memoranda, and other financial documentation required for investment committee presentations.
Project Finance Execution:
- Assist in the execution of project finance transactions by coordinating with internal teams, external advisors, banks, and legal counsel.
- Contribute to the preparation and negotiation of financial agreements and term sheets, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Support the structuring of debt and equity for project financing, working closely with senior team members to optimize capital structures.
Origination Support:
- Collaborate with the Origination team to identify and evaluate new investment opportunities in Australia.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence to assess the financial viability and strategic fit of potential projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, legal, tax, and technical teams, to ensure comprehensive project evaluation and smooth execution.
- Maintain accurate reporting and tracking of project status and pipeline activity, providing regular updates to senior management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Knowledge & Expertise:
- The ideal candidate will have an academic background in one of the following disciplines: Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance or similar.
- Prior experience in financial modelling, project finance, or investment analysis, ideally within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of the Australian energy market and experience in supporting or executing M&A transactions.
- Familiarity with financial structures and instruments used in project finance, such as debt and equity structuring.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
