GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Mortgage Assistant II helps the Mortgage Loan Operation Manager with rebuttals to the investors, researches audit findings, backs up processors, backs up the secondary desk, prepares HUD binders, answers the phone and directs calls to the appropriate party. This position pays all mortgage bills, check suspense reports, pull reports as necessary, prepare recertification forms to send to investors annually, order supplies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Resets passwords for all vendors, helps with questions from originators regarding issues they are having with DU, LP, etc. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.
2. Break down bills from all vendors and send to finance for payment. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
3. Pull files for QC audits and research to find problems and solutions. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.
4. Pull reports as necessary. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
5. Pull VA packages for VA review. This duty is performed annually, about 5% of the time.
6. Prepare HMDA packages and send to loan operations. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
7. Prepare HUD Case Binders. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
8. Order supplies for branch. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
9. Identify cross selling opportunities. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
10. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed annually.
11. Answer incoming calls and answer customer questions or forward to appropriate party. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
12. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
