Role Overview
The Finance Director will be responsible for all finance, accounting, and operational/non-investment functions of the business. She/He will be integral to both the strategic and operational sides of the business, responsible for shaping and implementing financial policies, managing funding operations of various vehicles, financial risk and control, and ensuring compliance with all applicable financial regulations and requirements. In this dual role, the FD will act as a strategic partner to the Exco, playing a crucial part in driving performance and supporting growth.

The Finance Director will be responsible for all finance, accounting, and operational/non-investment functions of the business. She/He will be integral to both the strategic and operational sides of the business, responsible for shaping and implementing financial policies, managing funding operations of various vehicles, financial risk and control, and ensuring compliance with all applicable financial regulations and requirements. In this dual role, the FD will act as a strategic partner to the Exco, playing a crucial part in driving performance and supporting growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement the financial strategy to support short- and long-term growth objectives of the group and its funding vehicles
- Lead Management Reporting: financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis, ensuring alignment with the firm's goals
- Support the Exco's strategic liquidity management and capital investments
Accounting & Reporting
- Lead Financial Reporting: direct the preparation and analysis of all required standalone and group financial statements (ensuring adherence to GAAP or IFRS as applicable), drawing in support from third party providers, if required.
- Where appropriate support preparation and analysis of financial reporting for the funding vehicles and provide oversight to the fund administrators, when relevant.
- Prepare the business for its first annual audit processes as it approaches the required statutory thresholds, ensuring readiness and compliance. Once audits are required, manage interactions with external auditors and stakeholders to facilitate smooth and efficient audit processes
- Prepare and present regular performance and financial reports to the Exco and Board
- Support funding vehicles with NAV calculations, capital calls, distribution and payment processing
Operational Oversight
- Maintain efficient and effective and risk-assessed back-office operations and controls, optimizing financial processes and systems
- Establish operational KPIs and continually evaluate performance, identifying areas for process improvement
- Input into onboarding of and ongoing relationships with third-party service providers, including administrators, custodians, and legal counsel
- Tax - VAT, corporate tax, structuring, PAYE, LLP tax, overseas tax
- Payroll and payment administration
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Help develop and maintain policies for risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop the finance function, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Buy into and promote the firm's culture and values
- The role is positioned to evolve into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position, taking on broader strategic responsibilities as the firm grows
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field and/or ACA accounting qualification preferred
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial modelling, investment valuations, and financial statement analysis
- An understanding of fund structures, including fund and hedge accounting, compliance, and reporting is beneficial, but not necessary
- Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of financial risk, including liquidity risk, funding risk, market risk, earnings risk, financial control and operational risk
