About the job:

The CIB UK Finance team is responsible for planning/budgeting of the CIB business in order to properly forecast and track the results and provide the necessary support to management to monitor the business and make strategic decisions. In addition, the team is in charge of the accounting and regulatory reporting, Cost management functions and Tax.

Finance UK is also currently responsible for the ALCO of the BBVA UK Branch and for the coordination with numerous teams for the proper monitoring of the Liquidity of the Branch.

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for Liquidity and Capital Management of the UK Branch, which includes CIB, BEC and SPARK Businesses deployed in the branch .

Requires a Finance professional in banking or similar industry with 10+ years' experience.

Have a deep knowledge of Liquidity and Capital, being responsible for the short and long term liquidity management, the optimization of capital and the interaction with UK supervisors on these matters.

List Major/Essential Job Duties

The role would be responsible for:
  • Management of the liquidity of the Branch, in constant coordination with the Head Office.
  • Coordination with the Risk department for review and monitoring of liquidity alerts, liquidity buffer requirements, Contingency Funding Plan, etc.
  • Interaction with the Lines of Business for proper monitoring of the pipeline and anticipation of necessary funding.
  • Involvement in the budgeting process and forecasting of liquidity needs and its impacts to the balance sheet and related interest margin.
  • Be the point person in the Finance team for any interactions with Regulators in liquidity related matters.
  • Conduct responsibilities as part of the UK Branch Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO).

In specifics regards to Capital and Profitability, the role is responsible for:
  • Analysis of RWAs of the CIB UK with the goal of identifying any opportunities for capital optimization, working in coordination with Head Office.
  • Monitoring of profitability by Line of Business and product, working closely with the UK front office teams.

Language:
  • English: bilingual
  • Spanish would be valued.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies
  • Academic background in Accounting or Finance, with a CTP, CPA or CFA preferred.
  • Must have experience in the financial industry of 10+ years in Treasury related positions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and demonstrate organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with different departments and geographies.
  • Strong decision-making skills, leadership, ability to influence senior management and to think creatively and identify innovative solutions.
