A fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to join a company going through lots of exciting change Your new company
Our client is an international engineering company that has 30 years experience supporting businesses spanning APAC. Due to growth and an exciting acquisition, they are looking for a technically strong Financial Controller to join their team.
Your new role
An experienced Financial Controller and Finance Business Partner to support and oversee all aspects of operational financial and accounting management, including financial accounting, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, financial risk management as well as development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures, driving business financial and operating performance and improving operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Australia business entity.
Finance & Accounting:
  • Manage finance and accounting operations to drive performance - managing a team of 2
  • Ensure financial records comply with GAAP, IFRS, and local laws.
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct profitability analysis and manage fixed assets.
  • Provide financial updates to senior management.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including invoicing, debtors, creditors, and bank reconciliation.
  • Liaise with auditors and tax advisors for annual statements and tax computation.
  • Develop and enhance controlling processes and SOPs.
  • Manage working capital, cash flow, and debt collection.
Business Performance Management:
  • Prepare profitability and financial analysis of key performance indicators.
  • Report on project financials and update forecasts.
  • Provide business review reports with variance analysis.
  • Align with HR and Operations for end-of-month reporting.
Project & Service Controlling:
  • Monitor and report project KPIs.
  • Prepare project status reports and manage billing and collection.
  • Conduct monthly project reviews with management.
  • Identify risks and define mitigation strategies.
  • Enhance project controlling processes and tools.
  • Review customer bids to ensure correct rates and target margins.
  • Steer the bid approval process from a financial perspective.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Relevant university degree in finance and/or accounting and CA/CPA qualified
  • Professional finance and controlling experience, including financial reporting, internal controls, and finance systems and processes and ideally in a matrix organisation.
  • Accounting background (local GAAP, IFRS), preferably in project controlling experience (not mandatory including Percentage of Completion method).
  • Driving results in a continuous improvement / data-driven culture
  • Ability to develop financial controls and reporting capabilities across the region.
  • Ability to work autonomously, collaboratively and multitask priorities in a fast-paced project-oriented business.
  • Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to solve problems, deal with ambiguity at times and demonstrate intuitive judgment.
  • Commitment to the ability to work under pressure.
