Based in Downtown Los Angeles, Oaktree is seeking an associate to work within the Strategic Credit Group for a 2-year program. This is a sector generalist role with the potential for specialization in the future. The Strategic Credit mandate is highly flexible and, as such, the role will require analysis of a variety of asset classes including, but not limited to, secured debt and equity-linked securities.

Responsibilities
The Associate will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities:
- Analyzing company financial statements;
- Developing detailed financial models with projections;
- Assessing company capital structures and reviewing related legal documents;
- Analyzing company valuations using various macroeconomic and business specific assumptions;
- Conducting interviews with industry experts and company management;
- Performing qualitative business and industry due diligence;
- Assessing strengths and weaknesses of various businesses;
- Performing comparable company analyses;
- Developing comprehensive investment thesis and memos;
- Presenting investment ideas to portfolio management;
- Participating in deal structuring, legal documentation and negotiations; and
- Monitoring the performance of existing portfolio investments.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience as an analyst with a top investment bank within merchant banking or leveraged finance.
- Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance.
- Experience analyzing fixed income a plus, but not required
