Your key responsibilities
- Oversee the City's long-term financial planning, capital investments, and reserve strategies to align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, portfolio investments, and securing debt financing to ensure financial sustainability.
- Develop and implement frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks, ensuring alignment with organizational risk appetite.
- Create and refine financial policies in line with legislative requirements, industry standards, and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with external partners, including government agencies, financial institutions, and consultants, to achieve the City's financial objectives.
- Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Deliver strategic insights and comprehensive reports to City leadership, Council, and advisory groups, driving informed decision-making.
What you bring
- Advanced knowledge of treasury operations, including cash flow management, portfolio investments, debt management, and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Proven ability to conduct critical financial analysis, develop accurate projections, and assess risks and opportunities.
- Strong experience in policy development, implementation, and alignment with strategic organizational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver detailed financial reports and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, drive organizational change, and create strategic plans with measurable results.
- Demonstrated success in fostering effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence, collaboration, and buy-in at all levels.
- Experience working within a municipal government setting is an asset, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, economics, or a related field.
- A professional designation such as CFA, CFP or CPA is considered an asset.
- A minimum of 7 years of senior-level experience in financial planning and leadership.
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
