About the Team:
AGF Fixed Income team is looking for a Fixed Income Trader to join our Investment Management team in Toronto. The Fixed Income team is responsible for managing AGF’s bond mandates worth over $6 billion spread over a variety of strategies: core plus, high yield, emerging markets, total return, target date, and convertibles.

Your Responsibilities:
- Idea generation: Analyze, generate and propose trade ideas by identifying mispricing in cross-asset markets, engage in relative value trading, and execute within the boundaries of mandate suitability and constraints
- Execution: Execution of fixed income trades (investment grade, high yield/distressed, syndicated bank loans, convertibles, rates and fixed income derivatives) across all the bond mandates
- Analysis: Formulates and articulates both specific and comprehensive credit perspectives, collaborating closely with the research team to ensure thorough due diligence and rigorous credit analysis
- Market monitoring: Monitor the market and communicate factors that impact portfolio’s buy/sell decisions. This includes understanding economic fundamentals, supply and demand dynamics, seasonal events and technical factors that drive the fixed income markets
- Portfolio Monitoring: Track portfolios for optimal structure, sector weightings, and positioning relative to manager expectations
- Collaboration: Constantly engaging and interacting with the portfolio managers to effectively implement trade ideas
- Support: Clear understanding of account guidelines and monitor portfolios for compliance with guidelines. Support settlements and pricing functions
Your Qualifications:
- Experience: Experience: 5+ years of fixed income sales/trading/execution/credit analysis experience (credit, rates, or fixed income derivatives)
- Working knowledge of North American fixed income markets and good understanding of bond portfolio management/construction/trading including but not limited to market technicals, supply/demand dynamics, credit spreads and credit quality.
- Financial & accounting background strongly recommended
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with fixed income derivatives trading would be an asset
- Coding skills are an asset
