JOB SUMMARY
Carlson Holdings, Inc. and the Carlson Family Office, is seeking a full time Investment Analyst, or Senior Investment Analyst, depending on background and experience, to participate in the management of the institutional investment portfolios and wealth planning needs of our clients. This is a generalist role that will be responsible for evaluating investment opportunities across all major asset classes. The position reports to the Senior Director, Investments and will work with the internal investments team, other internal departments, external investment managers and third-party service providers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Play a key role in the team’s investment manager due diligence process including sourcing, evaluating prospective relationships and ongoing monitoring of existing relationships – investment focus emphasizes alternative assets (e.g. hedge funds and private markets)
- Re-underwrite existing managers as needed
- Communicate observations with broader investment team and document notes
- Perform ad hoc investment research and analysis on capital markets and asset classes
- Monitor market and economic events/conditions
- Develop and maintain analytical tools to enhance the team’s overall research and analytical capabilities
- Learn and effectively utilize the firm’s investment management software solutions
- Assist in the development of investment reports and presentation materials for communications about the portfolios to committees, Boards and family members
- Support investment and risk analytics such as performance attribution and value-at-risk
- Manage trade execution; and cash and securities transfers
- Manage fund subscription process
- Support other Carlson Family Office departments as needed
- Ad hoc projects as opportunities arise
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, preferably with a major in finance or economics
- Minimum of four years relevant work experience
- CFA Charter holder (or progress toward)
- Knowledge of capital markets and investments
- Research and due diligence – experience in alternative asset classes preferred
- Familiarity with investment performance measurements and calculations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and unwavering ethical standards
- Excellent analytical, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- Technologically adept and experience with financial/investments related software required
