Carnegie Corporation seeks to hire a Senior Investment Analyst to be located in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quantitative financial and economic analysis of public markets, specifically related to sourcing and evaluating financial managers within emerging markets in the greater Asian region to enhance the performance of an endowment portfolio.
  • Plan and execute portfolio analytics (model-building, forecasting); manager due-diligence (absolute & relative performance evaluation); and special or regional research and analytics projects.
  • Conduct financial analysis at the portfolio and asset class level: provide analytical support for, and coding of, quantitative measurement and reporting systems; report on risk factor exposures (e.g. market exposure, leverage, portfolio concentrations, and correlations) and risk-adjusted performance measures; run stress tests and scenario analyses.
  • Conduct analysis and evaluation of portfolio managers (to include systemic and multi-strategy managers) located primarily in Asia: analyze embedded risks and biases in manager return histories; conduct holdings level analysis to understand managers’ underwriting process; measure and forecast manager performance (absolute and relative); identify abnormal manager under or outperformance; measure, evaluate and monitor the active risk of managers.
  • Conduct regional financial and sector specific analysis (e.g. shipping) within the greater Asia region: identify new investment opportunities within emerging markets, conduct due diligence on prospective investment managers, negotiate the terms of the Endowment’s investments, and monitor the performance of regionally-located managers.
  • Support the establishment of quality peer networks within emerging markets, including analysis of peer institutions’ best practices.
  • Provide quantitative analytical support (model building) and capital markets research to assist in capital allocation and rebalancing decisions, create and maintain systems to capture and analyze relevant financial data.
  • Prepare reports for presentation to senior management and Board of Directors; effectively communicate recommendations and results of investments.
  • Support operational functions and prepare monthly reports for internal and external distribution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Finance.
  • Three years of experience in a Financial Analysts or Investment Advisor occupation.
  • Three years of experience conducting analysis of portfolio managers’ performance to include qualification of portfolio construction process and research processes.
  • Three years of experience drafting reports and presentation to investment committee/teams providing investment thesis and risk considerations related to existing or prospective portfolio managers.
  • Three years of experience conducting financial public market analysis within the greater Asia region.
