The Accounting Assistant will spend time in different teams amongst the UK Finance department, they will learn the core principals and processes of each team to develop a strong understanding of the finance department.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Trial balance review, understand and explain variances.
- Assist month end process, prepare and post journal entries (accruals and Prepayments).
- Support review of Balance Sheet substantiations and flag issues to LEC manager/senior team members
- Daily monitoring and control of global automated P&L's and revenue reports
- Liaising with Front Office for prompt resolution of queries relating to P&L discrepancies
- Participate in monthly PNL call to provide variance analyses on Fees.
- Provide ad hoc global revenue reports to senior management and other departments
- Assist external auditors for the statutory audit
- Ad hoc project work.
Skills
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- A strong academic background and good grades
- Graduate - Preferably from an accounting and finance or economics background or / Part qualified (ACA, ACCA, CMA)/ Qualified AAT
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with professionals throughout the organisation.
- Have excellent organisational skills and to ensure the team meets its objectives and deadlines.
- Possess a pro-active attitude with an ability to take responsibility
Technical Skills
- MS Office: advanced use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills
- Oracle Financials /Hyperion Essbase (would be advantageous)
Personal Attributes
- A self-starter with a flexible approach, adaptable to new situations and who has the ability to learn quickly and think in a strategic manner.
- Good attention to detail
- Articulates both written and spoken messages clearly and confidently.
- Proactive and able to work well under pressure.
- The ability to build and develop strong relationships with stakeholders i.e. Corporate Accounting, Fx Control, Tax, BR Control, Operations and support areas
