Job Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) oversees the provision of Business Analysis as part of a wider Finance Product team supporting a portfolio of projects.

We are seeking a seasoned BA professional with a wealth of finance transformation experience. You'll possess a well-rounded toolkit, robust delivery discipline and strong interpersonal skills. In addition, we will value applications from candidates with a working knowledge of our specific context such as our products: insurance, protection, annuities, bonds and home finance; and the business disciplines we serve such as actuarial, compliance and risk.

What you'll do
  • Conducts demand evaluation, identifies and articulates risks associated with evaluated demand suggesting mitigation options.
  • Analyses impacts and feasibility of solutions with the ability to provide options for decisioning.
  • Identifies improvement or risk mitigation opportunities and communicates to the business beneficiary for prioritisation and potential sponsorship.
  • Elicits, analyses and synthesises stakeholder perspectives. Works in partnership with Delivery and the change sponsor to resolve conflicting stakeholder perspectives in line with project and wider corporate objectives.
  • Produces high-quality business analysis artefacts ranging from high level scope, data/ process models to detailed requirements
  • Acts as an ambassador for change in all stakeholder interactions.
  • Conducts exemplary contracting concerning own work: evaluating the need, agreeing an analysis approach, providing realistic estimates and identifying own needs including training, tooling, information access and Subject Matter Expert access.
  • Provides transparency regarding progress, maintains own milestone plan managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining delivery commitments.
  • Produces and maintains traceability from business need to benefit realisation as standard on all change initiatives covering both IT and business activities. Identifies and escalates trace anomalies (insufficient activity to deliver business need or activity with no trace to business need).
  • Exploits trace to provide robust impact assessment of change requests on mid-flight initiatives.
  • Engage in and, where required, conduct Post Implementation Review / retrospectives documenting the outcome to the local standards and ensuring that actions arising have clear and accountable ownership.
  • Champions the customer (or solution consumer) in every context and creates feedback loops for continual improvements.


Knowledge / Experience / Skills

Essential
  • Finance transformation experience to support working in LifeCo working in large programmes, product teams or in an SME capacity.
  • Experience in delivering BA support to business change programmes in LifeCo finance and actuarial teams.
  • A strong understanding of financial actuarial, valuation and reporting processes and systems.
  • A broad understanding of LifeCo reporting requirements i.e. IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Ability to relate to accountants and actuaries; and to help them structure their requirements for change
  • Experienced in appropriately tracking delivery and supporting actuaries to overcome challenges / issues to ensure outcomes are delivered on time
  • Experience in Data Warehousing, Lakehouse ideally Databricks
  • Analysts must possess knowledge in Data Visualization

Desirable
  • Previous experience in working in Product teams using Agile frameworks
  • Ability to use tools such as JIRA/Confluence
  • BCS Advanced International Diploma in Business Analysis
  • BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis
  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
  • SAP General Ledger knowledge
  • SAP Analytics Cloud knowledge
  • Understanding of investment operations
  • Knowledge/experience in implementing automation tools
