Job Description
This position supports the preparation of Berkshire Hathaway Energy's (BHE) filings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and assists in the monthly financial close and consolidation process; supports the process of reviewing BHE's registrant subsidiaries' SEC filings and non-registrant subsidiaries' external financial reports to ensure consistency among the reports; supports the reporting functions of the BHE corporate entities and business units; prepares schedules and analyses; and provides support to BHE's external auditors.
This position also manages projects as assigned by the chief accounting officer and supports the normal work of the Corporate Accounting Group as time permits. Project work may include, but is not limited to, accounting system implementations and sustainment; supporting acquisition diligence and integration activities; debt offerings; and management reporting projects.
Responsibilities
Works with the external financial reporting and policy team in the execution of core responsibilities and achievement of goals and objectives. [40-50%]
Works with the corporate consolidations and internal financial reporting team in the execution of core responsibilities and achievement of goals and objectives. [30-40%]
Works with the Corporate Accounting Group to identify priorities and manage overall tasks; assists the chief accounting officer in prioritizing identified tasks and any related projects. [30-40%]
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and certified public accountant or demonstrated progress towards certified public accountant preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Six years of progressive related accounting and financial reporting experience with SEC reporting experience preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Proficient in the use of accounting and reporting systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP) and software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.

- Supports the preparation of BHE's SEC filings, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K and registration statements as required;
- Supports the review of BHE's registrant subsidiaries' SEC filings;
- Supports the review of BHE's non-registrant subsidiaries' financial statements and offering memorandums;
- Assists in the preparation of responses to quarterly and annual information and data requests received from Berkshire Hathaway Inc.;
- Supports BHE's external auditors, including the preparation of requested work papers and schedules;
- Assists in the research and resolution of accounting issues and implementation of new accounting guidance across all business units; and
- Supports the monitoring, governance and maintenance of the organization's internal control environment.
Works with the corporate consolidations and internal financial reporting team in the execution of core responsibilities and achievement of goals and objectives. [30-40%]
- Supports the execution of the monthly BHE consolidation process, including the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statement package;
- Assists in the preparation of a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports; and
- Assists in the accounting processes for corporate entities, including daily transactions, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements, intercompany transactions, and establishment and maintenance of general ledgers.
Works with the Corporate Accounting Group to identify priorities and manage overall tasks; assists the chief accounting officer in prioritizing identified tasks and any related projects. [30-40%]
- Oversees assigned projects from initiation through planning, execution, and implementation;
- Scopes assigned projects and develops a detailed project plan and resource schedule. Obtains sign-off from the chief accounting officer of the approach prior to execution of the project plan;
- Executes and adjusts project plans and schedules as necessary while meeting project objectives; and
- Manages project risk through risk identification, quantification, response and control.
Qualifications
