Job Description
The Role
The VP, Client Solutions, Capital Solutions is accountable for Pacific Life Re's Capital Solutions ("CapSol") new business delivery in Asia and Australia. The incumbent is accountable for the sales, client relationships, structuring and execution of transactions in these markets. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring we have market leading client relationships, and they will be responsible for developing new markets and delivering growth in existing markets. The role holder will have extensive regulatory and accounting knowledge particularly in Korea, Japan and Thailand such that they understand potential client pain points, implications of different deal structures, able to effectively influence a deal structure to enhance value and increase the likelihood of executing a deal.
In performing their role, the incumbent will be expected to support the MVP, Client Solutions, CapSol and the CapSol Executive Committee, in delivering a strategy and business plan for Asia and Australia. They will lead on the execution of this strategy in client relationships and solutions for these markets.
The incumbent in this role is expected to be a key leader in developing a culture across Capital Solutions consistent with the Pacific Life Re target culture and consistent with the company's Principles and Behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
- Play a leading role in the development of the Capital Solutions strategy for Asia and Australia, developing business plans and KPIs based on these strategies. Lead and be accountable for the execution and implementation of the new business part of these plans effectively and efficiently.
- Develop market leading client relationships in key markets with the support of the MVP, Client Solutions. Ensure there is effective relationship at each level of seniority within our clients, to understand client needs, and allow Capital Solutions to use these relationships to expand and grow business whilst supporting client needs.
- Bring local regulatory and accounting knowledge in addition to market insights of the region to the team to assist in the development of bespoke solutions and enhanced value for PL Re's clients.
- Accountable for new business volume delivery ensuring there is an effective working model between Client Solutions, Pricing and other key functions such as Legal so that PL Re can deliver on its client quote and business needs whilst delivering required new business volumes and strong working relationships.
- Work collaboratively with the other 2 lines of business teams, Savings & Retirement and Protection, to co-ordinate market activities in Asia and Australia.
- Responsible for high quality decision making across Capital Solutions including but not limited to being an approver in the treaty authorities on new transactions and treaties and ensuring appropriate structures and terms are offered to ensures business is within risk appetite and potential stress event are understood.
- Ensuring there is a culture consistent with the PL Re target culture and Behaviours and Principles - with particular focus on ensuring that a collaborative environment and good flow of information exists between the Capital Solutions client solutions team, other teams in Capital Solutions, the investment team, the Business Services teams, the Protection and Savings & Retirement teams.
- Ensuring that a sound corporate governance framework is in place across the Capital Solutions client solutions area and that appropriate internal control systems are in place to guard against operational risk and ensure the prevention of fraud.
Qualifications & Expertise
- At least 10 years' experience in operating in (re)insurance including time in market facing and technical roles
- Extensive technical knowledge of local regulatory and IFRS/ local GAAP accounting rules and implications in Asia
- Experience with developing bespoke capital solutions structures for clients
- Deep understanding of the technical basis of reinsurance business, with a proven ability to understand and question pricing and / or capital bases.
- Excellent communication skills and track record of strong working relationships with .
- Ability to set and deliver compelling strategies in a challenging business environment.
- 5+ years experience in a sales, new business or client relationship role.
- Exceptional, leadership, managerial and influencing skills and an ability to operate at all levels.
- Highly financially literate and can understand reinsurance pricing. financial reporting and capital to a high level of detail.
- In depth understanding of risk frameworks and controls.
