Job Description:

Sun Life is implementing an ambitious transformation agenda in Hong Kong. To succeed, we must scale quickly, adapt to change, and enhance efficiency across our organization. We are looking for an Associate Director level IT Finance Lead to facilitate this transformation by strategically managing our investment spending, driving cost efficiency and maximizing business returns.

The ideal candidate will develop and oversee a cost budgeting, forecasting and tracking program built around agile value stream capacity planning. They will establish detailed tracking of spending to outcome to provide executives with clear visibility into organizational investments and enable ongoing adjustments to prioritize top initiatives.

Additionally, the successful candidate will lead a team of 2-3 person, ensuring discipline in project accounting, including proper capitalization, accruals and forecasting. They will also work to improve awareness and capabilities in these areas across the broader team. Experienced in analyzing IT spending categories (for example, software licenses, hardware, cloud, etc.) is essential to identify opportunities for efficiency and redirect funding towards our strategic goals.

Major accountabilities
  • Develop and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and IT strategies.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and forecasting for IT initiatives and projects.
  • Conduct regular financial review and analysis to track IT spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Work closely with IT vendor and contract management team on financial matters, including value realization and cost analysis.
  • Partner with Strategic Finance / Value Realization Office to ensure the intended value from our strategic investments is realized
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to develop business cases and ROI analyses for proposed IT investments and projects.
  • Implement and maintain financial controls and processes within the IT department.
  • Provide regular financial reports and insights to senior management, including variance analysis and performance metrics.
  • Manage the IT chargeback/show back process, wherever applicable.
  • Work closely with IT Leads and Tech Currency teams on the financial aspects of IT asset management, including lifecycle costing and depreciation strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in IT financial management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and corporate policies.
  • Lead a team of financial analysts and accounting staff

Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 7 years specifically in IT finance
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, technologies, and industry trends
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and IT financial management tools
  • CPA, CGMA, or ITIL Financial Management or equivalent are a plus
