Our corporate trust business is a leading provider of fiduciary and digital solutions to the banking and financial services industry in Australia and Singapore. It administers securitisation portfolios, investment and debt structures to protect the interests of our clients' investors. Corporate trust supports clients locally and overseas with a unique offering through five key service offerings: Debt Market Services; Managed Fund Services; Perpetual Asia, headquartered in Singapore; Perpetual Digital, and Laminar Capital.
As the Senior Account Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Accounting Team in the delivery of superior trust accounting services in compliance with relevant agreements and trust documentation for managed funds and debt capital market clients.
About the role
As a Senior Accounting Manager at Perpetual Corporate Trust you will:
- Lead a team of staff in the delivery of the accounting services.
- Prepare and co-ordinate the delivery of services under each Accounting engagement.
- Assist the Senior Manager and General Manager in delivering key projects and shaping the strategic direction of the accounting business.
- Maintain and enhance Perpetual's brand in the market through superior expertise and client service, as well as maintaining strong client relationships.
- Deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead and provide training and guidance to the team.
- Lead and/or involvement in projects.
- Drive the performance and continued development of staff.
- Support the new business function, including attend new business meetings and provide upfront technical expertise, as well as oversee set up and transition of new trusts.
- Coordinate and review accounting outputs prior to release, including periodic management accounts, annual financial statements (audited and unaudited), GST/BAS calculations.
- Review trust distribution calculations and coordinate payment.
- Monitor allocation of work/client/funds among staff.
- Keep up to date with developments in the accounting standards & tax industry and communicate where appropriate.
- Maintain an appropriate quality assurance & risk management framework.
- Manage appointment of service providers, where these are integral to the management of the trust's investments.
- Adherence to policy and procedures.
- Adherence to WH&S policies.
About you
- Relevant tertiary education (e.g. business / accounting / economics / finance degree).
- Qualified CA/CPA or international equivalent
- Minimum5 years relevant experience in accounting with a solid understanding of trust accounting
- Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in leading a team
- Experience in building and managing operational processes
- Experience in client leadership and communication
- Advanced skills in accounting and financial reporting under AASB / IAS
- Understanding of tax and tax reporting obligations for investment vehicles in Australia would be an advantage
- Understanding of withholding tax obligations for foreign investors would be an advantage
- Understanding of Managed Investment Trusts (MIT) and securitisation would be an advantage
- Experience in providing accounting services to institutional investors would be an advantage
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Tax agent or BAS agent licence would be an advantage
- An understanding of risk management.
