Banking Controllers is the largest department in Finance, primarily responsible for controlling daily profit and loss reporting, balance sheet management, and expense tracking across our business. Banking covers Investment Banking (Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions) and Corporate Lending products that support Corporate and Commercial Banking clients. You'll have the opportunity to work closely across functions on a daily basis (Trading Desk, Deal Teams, Business Management, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance) and gain a solid understanding of the products offered, along with their market risks and accounting complexities.

The Investment Banking Junior Controller will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's financial records. The main goal of this role is to support data integrity, assist with general ledger reconciliation, and contribute to Investment Banking P&L and Balance Sheet reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the end-to-end Banking Controllers processes, including daily P&L and Balance Sheet preparation across key business segments: Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
  • Help identify and escalate issues promptly, focusing on recurring items to drive process enhancements.
  • Participate in standardization efforts and work on strategic and ad-hoc projects to improve Citi's Banking Control systems and processes.
  • Bring a collaborative & proactive attitude to work effectively with colleagues for outstanding results.

  • Assist in solving issues and provide support for broader business challenges.
  • Conduct analyses using data tools and apply best practices to routine tasks.
  • Help assess and address risks in business decisions, upholding the firm's values and reputation through responsible conduct and transparency.

Required qualifications & background:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Tableau and KNIME would be an advantage. (Training will be provided for additional in-house and industry-standard systems).
  • Interest in investment banking products and industry trends.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments.
