Description
Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with another company in Utica that is looking to hire a Controller. In this Controller role, you will be an integral member of the team. The scope of this role includes providing financial analysis, managing budgets, controlling costs, and delivering financial reports.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they accurately reflect the plant's financial position.
• Lead the plant's budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
• Collaborate with department managers to develop accurate and achievable budgets and forecasts, while monitoring performance against these targets.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis and performance metrics for management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes for the plant, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and expense allocations.
• Oversee cost accounting activities, including standard costing, material costing, and inventory valuation.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on production costs, labor, overhead, and material variances.
• Work closely with operations to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable local regulations.
• Maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting and operational processes.
• Act as a strategic partner to plant leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations that support decision-making and operational goals.
• Collaborate with other departments, including production, procurement, and HR, to understand their financial needs and support process improvements.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve plant performance, productivity, and profitability.
Requirements
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting functions.
• Knowledge and experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Experience in budget processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
