Job Summary:
The Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for leading and conducting data governance implementation for key risk applications. The Specialist, will guide and support Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians in fulfilment of the firm's Data Governance Standards. This includes work in metadata management, data quality, lineage, data privacy, and data retention. The Specialist will function as a change agent and advocate for data governance best practices.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Educate Data Owner, Stewards, and Custodians on the principles of data governance
• Collaborate with Data Practitioners to develop and ensure appropriate metadata curation
• Lead working sessions to gather data quality requirements and liaison with the Data Quality Team to ensure the proper construction of Data Quality Rules and Reporting
• Develop, and document data retention strategies
• Guide and support documentation of PII attribution and data lineage
• Liaison with Enterprise Data Governance Team, Risk Data Governance Team, plus 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense
• Plan and manage multiple applications' data governance implementation at any one time
• Serve as a trust advisor to Data Owner, Stewards, and Custodians on all data governance matters
• Bridge knowledge and technical gaps for data owners in the risk data space
• Analyze and solution Data Governance or quality issues, considering multiple stakeholder perspectives and requirements
• Oversee periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with the Data Governance Standards
• Support ad hoc data governance, quality, or analytics efforts for Risk Analytics and Data Services (RADS) or the greater Risk Management function
Knowledge/Skills:
• Understand and be capable of effectively communicating Data Governance principles to both business and technical communities
• Possess broad-based knowledge of risk data and the ability to curate risk metadata
• Capable of engaging senior leadership within business, operations, and technology
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills
• Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
Education/Experience:
• A College or University degree
• 6 to 8 years of experience in financial services or consulting
• Experience implementing financial or risk data governance programs
• Experience using data governance platforms (such as Collibra)
• Detailed knowledge of industry data governance models (such as DCAM)
• General knowledge of Risk Management functions/regulations for financial institutions
• Experience leading enterprise initiatives or cross function projects
