This is a unique Asia Pacific Finance team opportunity (based in Hong Kong or Sydney), working closely with APAC CFO, to create, drive and deliver finance strategy, transformation & controls programmes within the APAC region.

What is the opportunity?

This is a unique Asia Pacific Finance team opportunity (based in Hong Kong or Sydney), working closely with APAC CFO, to create, drive and deliver finance strategy, transformation & controls programmes within the APAC region. You will also be required to provide strategic direction to the Head of Finance, Malaysia in relation to the APAC COE and potential broader enterprise investments in the COE. This role will also partner closely with the Enterprise teams that are responsible for global CFO Transformation and global Chief Control Office initiatives to contribute to global strategy and ensure alignment and seamless execution by APAC.

What will you do?
  • In partnership with the CFO APAC and platform controllers, provide Finance controller oversight for APAC.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and SME-advice to platform controllers and country heads of finance.
  • Drive key APAC Finance initiatives with a focus on standardized, scalable, high-quality deliverables
  • CFO Transformation Initiatives: proactively contribute to global strategy. Coordinate and drive implementation within the APAC region.
  • Chief Control Office initiatives: represent APAC Finance in Chief Control Office forums and provide valued advice and recommendations to enhance the current framework. Partner with platform controllers and drive implementation of enhancements within the APAC region.
  • Enterprise Financial Control: Partner with the Enterprise Controller team to assist with operating model enhancements and control framework evolution, leveraging COE position and expertise.
  • Represent APAC in the Enterprise Controllership Council (or similar).
  • Drive multi-country initiatives in collaboration with the platform controllers and business advisors.
  • Assist in the structure and development of high performing and engaged teams that deliver stated objectives and direct them through periods of material change, high workload and challenging business demands.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to RBC APAC Finance Staff.
  • Coordinate the centre of excellence for Accounting Policy implementation and coordination and ensure uniform accounting policies applied in APAC.
  • Partner with platform controllers with regards to enterprise Controls and Governance activities, e.g.: SOX, BRAG, AAC, GL Attestations, Inter-APAC and inter-Group reconciliations

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Significant experience of managing finance teams in Wholesale Markets businesses including Financial Control, Product Control, Valuations and Regulatory Reporting
  • Strong commercial acumen, knowledge, understanding and experience of Wholesale Markets & some exposure to Wealth Management businesses;
  • Business Analysis and change management experience
  • Knowledge of applicable reporting and accounting standards including IFRS
  • CA or CPA accounting qualification
  • Proven, team orientated, leadership skills
  • Excel in people management skills, excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • High comfort level dealing with problem resolution, and time pressure
  • Organisational awareness
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to execute and drive change

Nice-to-have
  • 10+ years' experience working in Financial Services environment
  • CFA qualification
