Brown & Brown is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our growing team in Garden City, NY .

The Accounting Leader reports to the STAT Accounting Leader with the ability to complete accurate general accounting functions including but not limited to A/R, A/P, journal entries, reconciliations, managing client account balances, managing client relationships and account analysis. Oversees workflows within the Workers Comp finance including Accounts Payable, AR, claims balances, claims payments, refund processing. Assists with month-end and quarter-end activities.

How You Will Contribute
  • Manage the printing of all checks
  • Hire and Train Staff
  • Oversee and produce all 1099's
  • Reconcile all program quarterly reports which include information directly from the investment managers of the programs
  • Maintain and foster relationships with operational, finance and corporate stakeholders.
  • Collect all W9's prior to any payments, TIN Matching and Monitor OFAC Compliance
  • Handle all Positive Payment uploads and insure decisions are made timely and appropriately.
  • Monitor both work production & accuracy of all teammates
  • Maintain ledger and financial reports for clients month and annually.
  • Prepare and maintain departmental policy & procedure documents.
  • Look for and build department efficiencies. Be able to prepare business case for organization buy in for change,
  • Maintain all client tables in the administration system

Skills & Experience to Be Successful
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • 3 - 5 years practical experience in the accounting field
  • Ability to work long hours. Night/week-end work may apply due to restrictions around Financial Reporting.
  • Master's degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • Bookkeeping experience (preferred)
  • Willingness to relocate (preferred)
  • CPA designation (preferred)

Pay Range
$115,000 - $125,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
