The team (and role) is responsible for setting market pricing and transacting deals in the life reinsurance space. The role will provide involvement in the end-to-end process. This is an opportunity to work in a wide range of products and across international markets.

The role is based in the Sydney at Challenger's head office. There will be opportunities for client interactions and relationship management working as part of a close-knit team.

The Life Risk team is involved in a mix of highly technical work; tools and models development; stakeholder management; and internal/external client interactions. A strong candidate will be self-motivated and technically skilled with a developed business acumen.

Previous pricing experience, particularly in longevity risk, would be viewed favourably.

Key aspects of the roles include:
  • Conduct and review actuarial pricing to achieve commercial goals;
  • Performing technical analysis and review of industry and historical deal experience in assumption and trend setting for pricing purposes;
  • Data sourcing, checking, manipulation and communication;
  • Financial cashflow and capital projections;
  • Developing knowledge of and contributing to the understanding of insurance markets in various jurisdiction;
  • Documentation, discussion and communication of analysis, assumptions and pricing results;
  • Understanding, maintaining and developing pricing and data analysis models; and
  • Involvement in the client communication and approval processes.

Knowledge & Skills required:
  • Strong actuarial problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, plan and manage own tasks and performance.
  • Exposure and knowledge or re/insurance industry and pricing of longevity, mortality and morbidity risks.

  • VBA, SQL and/or Python programming familiarity and experience.
  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • A tertiary qualification with strong GPA in the fields of Actuarial, Finance, Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or similar.
