We have an excellent opportunity for a Trust Accountant to join our Computershare Plan Managers (CPM) Trust Accounting team, based in our Yarra Falls office. If you're looking for a job that challenges you and gives you opportunities to grow, you've found the right role.

A role you will love

The Trust Accountant is accountable for the gathering and collation of trust-based employee share plan source information into a set of working papers used as the foundation of annual audited trust financial statements and associated annual taxation returns.

This work encompasses the preparation of trust financial records to trial balance, reconciliation of general ledger accounts and consolidation into either Special Purpose Financial Statements or General Purpose Financial Statements (as defined within the terms of the Trust Deed) for use by Plan Manager clients and their employee share participants.

You will work closely with Trust Auditors, Trust Tax Agents, and relevant internal stakeholders to ensure all trust-related reporting is actioned with the relevant Statutory agencies.

In addition, the role holder will also provide support and contribute to organisational change initiatives specific to Trust Accounting by driving discovery, deployment, and knowledge sharing.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare and deliver nominated trust financial statements to the Trust auditor and the trust taxation return to the Trust Tax Agent to complete and lodge the annual return with the ATO or New Zealand IRD
  • Proactively drive knowledge sharing and lead change initiatives specific to trust and non-trust services
  • Actively leads, implements & responds to any internal/external audit and taxation items findings within agreed timeframes
  • Effective management of 3rd party service providers, ensuring delivery of service within agreed timeframes
  • Engage internal stakeholders for all trust and non-trust-related services
  • Strong collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure a high level of service. You will be partnering with internal and external stakeholders maintaining a professional approach at all times
  • Participating in ad hoc reporting request to drive overall efficiency

What will you bring to the role?

You will possess the ability to quickly learn and take on new processes, thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadline-driven tasks.

Other key skills required include:
  • Previous experience in a fund accounting, superannuation, or investment operations role or similar within the financial services industry
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting and studying or completed ACA/CPA program
  • Proactive approach with the ability to interact successfully at all levels across the organisation
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to resolve problems
  • Good time management skills to meet stakeholder deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • A strong understanding of tax rules and regulations pertaining to trusts
  • Risk management focus with experience identifying and mitigating risk
  • Proven ability to adapt and lead change
  • An understanding of Employee Share Plans (preferable)
