GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Trust Officer I is responsible for professional administration of fiduciary accounts as assigned, maintaining relationship with clients, and increasing technical knowledge in areas pertaining to these accounts. This includes basic interpretation of Wills, Trusts, and other legal documents and/or maintaining plan records and assisting with regulatory compliance for employee benefit accounts as well as assisting with employee education/information meetings when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform functions necessary to properly administer accounts handled in the Trust Department including Trusts, Estates, Investment accounts, Escrows, Corporate Trusts, IRA's and Employee Benefit accounts. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
2. Participate in account opening, ongoing administration, reviews and account closing procedures and ongoing client contact to service accounts as needed. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
3. Monitor the financial performance of investments in assigned accounts as well as assist in recommendation and execution of investment decisions. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
4. Maintain contact with attorneys, accountants and other professional service providers. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
5. Participate in the preparation and distribution of all departmental tax forms. This duty is performed annually, about 5% of the time.
6. Participate in the preparation of all Federal and State tax returns required by accounts held in the Trust Department. This duty is performed annually, about 5% of the time.
7. Responsible for the basic interpretation of Wills, Trusts, and other legal documents in order to assist clients. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
8. Participate in the marketing of trust services both internally and externally. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
9. Work on special projects as assigned. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
10. Make customer calls, including cold calls. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
11. Provide excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
12. Regular and good attendance to work. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
13. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
14. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
15. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, and 12 to 18 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Supervises a small group (3-7) of employees, usually of lower classifications. Assigns and checks work; assists and instructs as required and performs same work as those supervised, or closely related work, a portion of the time.
