Banking Controllers is the largest department in Finance , with responsibilities for daily profit and loss reporting, balance sheet and expense management across our business. Banking covers Investment Banking (Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions) and Corporate Lending products supporting Corporate and Commercial Banking clients. This role will involve close daily collaboration across functions (Trading Desk, Deal Teams, Business Management, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance), allowing you to deepen your understanding of our products, market risks, and accounting requirements.
The Investment Banking Intermediate Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's financial records. This role supports data integrity, general ledger reconciliation, and contributes to Investment Banking P&L and Balance Sheet reporting.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to end-to-end Banking Controllers processes, including daily P&L and Balance Sheet preparation for the following business segments: Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
- Identify and escalate issues promptly, helping drive enhancements and process improvements across recurring challenges.
- Actively support standardization efforts and participate in strategic and ad-hoc projects to strengthen Citi's Banking Control systems and processes.
- Develop a proactive, analytical mindset to drive insights into financial results. Support problem-solving efforts and provide input on more complex issues.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, fostering a results-driven team environment.
- Utilize organizational skills, attention to detail, and an independent working style to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Conduct detailed analyses using data tools and apply industry practices to daily tasks.
- Assist in assessing and managing risk in decision-making, prioritizing firm reputation, compliance, and transparency.
Required qualifications & background:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field would be an advantage.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Tableau and KNIME would be an advantage. (Training will be provided for additional in-house and industry-standard systems).
- Interest in investment banking products, market trends, and economic factors influencing the industry.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
