You'll be responsible for
  • Providing subject matter expertise and functional inputs relating to reinsurance accounting to enable system and processes optimisation. Perform, support and coordinate testing as required.
  • Collaboratively and proactively engage finance and project stakeholders in ensuring requirements and expectations are understood. Risks, issues and gaps are appropriately managed and mitigated. Change management activities are well planned and executed.
  • Deliver the following and ensure any new / changes to systems and processes are optimised and will enable:
    • accurate and timely delivery of reinsurance reporting to ensure Allianz Australia is compliant with all accounting standards including Group, local statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and proactively reacting to changes in the reinsurance operational environment to reflect in accounting and reporting.
    • Trading partner/reinsurer details are managed as per group and local statutory requirements.
    • End-to-end delivery of fulfilment of reinsurance contract, including settlement of reinsurance premium, and collection of reinsurance recoveries and ensure associated credit terms and targets are achieved.
    • Complete and accurate use of data and transformation adopted in end-to-end reinsurance accounting process.
    • Necessary internal controls are assessed and implemented for the reinsurance accounting function.
  • Identify and manage risks in change.

About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
  • Extensive experience in general insurance/ reinsurance with financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Experience as a project SME and operating in an Agile environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply General Accounting Assurance Principles (GAAP) and other relevant industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making.
  • Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, presentation, reporting and communication tools.
  • Ability to manage internal client expectations to ensure matters are appropriately triaged and dealt with in accordance with an agreed timeline and scope.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
  • Proven capability to manage change through the initiation and promotion of organisational transformation, leveraging effective process, collaboration, and communication to foster commitment and participation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
