You will play a critical role in establishing, building, and leading a high-performing Group Reporting function. This position requires a strategic, hands-on finance leader with deep technical expertise and an ability to set up robust, scalable reporting structures that adhere to listed company standards. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within the reporting processes, ultimately enhancing the company's financial transparency and credibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish Group Reporting Function: Design, build, and implement a world-class Group Reporting function, ensuring the processes, systems, and team structures support the company's growth and adherence to listed company standards.
- Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Reporting: Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and key management reports, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality submissions for internal and external stakeholders.
- Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with IFRS and UK GAAP (or relevant accounting standards), and oversee the implementation of any necessary updates in response to new accounting standards.
- Internal Controls & Governance: Design and implement strong internal controls within the reporting function, ensuring robust governance and risk management practices across all financial reporting processes.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison for the external audit process, managing the relationship with auditors and preparing for all necessary audit requirements. Present financial results and strategic insights to the board and senior leadership.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing reporting team. Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance the team's technical and analytical skills.
- System Implementation & Improvement: Lead the selection and implementation of ERP and reporting systems, as well as any process improvements that increase efficiency and data accuracy within the reporting cycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with FP&A, Finance Operations, and Business Units to ensure alignment on financial data and reporting requirements. Support ad hoc reporting needs for strategic projects, M&A, and other business initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualifications, with strong technical accounting skills and ideally Big 4 training.
- Experience: Proven track record in a senior finance role within a listed company or equivalent, with experience in Group Reporting and a deep understanding of consolidation, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in preparing consolidated financial statements, financial reporting systems, and in-depth knowledge of technical accounting standards.
- Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in building and developing a high-performing team.
- Systems Knowledge: Previous experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and group reporting tools. Experience with systems implementation is a plus.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, including senior leadership and board members.
- Analytical & Strategic Mindset: Ability to analyse complex financial data, provide insightful recommendations, and drive strategic financial decisions.
