Job Description
Main purpose of the Role:
Regional Controller for BGC and GFI's Dubai Branches, and South Africa companies.
The role is directly responsible for financial control and reporting activities for 2 branches in Dubai (including statutory, management and all other financial reporting) and responsible for review of financials and reporting for 6 entities in South Africa.
Liaising with UK Corporate Accounting team, LE reporting team, and other functional departments (Tax, Treasury, Product Control, Operations and Legal).
The aim is to ensure that the individual can make an important contribution to the continued development of BGC's Gulf and African businesses, raising the bar in terms of quality, control and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Fully understand the entities and their underlying businesses.
- Manage the monthly / quarterly reporting of the results, including analytical submissions for Group reporting, and ensure that deadlines are met on time with accurate information.
- Preparation of Dubai branches regulatory reports.
- Review of 2regulated South African companies regulatory reports.
- Manage the statutory reporting for the Gulf entities including liaising with the auditors and ensure timely delivery of information, responses and ensure timely sign off of the audited accounts.
- Understand the FX exposure that is contained within the entities and help in the global management of the FX position across the Group.
- Carry out overview of balance sheet reconciliations and report any concerns to management.
- Review inter-company break report and discuss resolution of issues with central intercompany controller.
- Understand and review intercompany recharges, allocations and transfer pricing processes.
- Review any tax returns in conjunction with external accountants and the Group Tax team.
- Provide ad hoc reporting to Senior Management.
Skills / Competencies required:
The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant (i.e. ACA, ACCA or CPA) with 5+ years post qualification experience, ideally in financial services (broking or trading organisation) and should be able to demonstrate:
- Prior experience in a finance role within an organisation.
- Fluent English written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with professionals throughout the organisation.
- Understanding of IFRS and US GAAP, as well as the principles of Gulf countries regulatory reporting.
- A strong academic background and good career progression to date.
- Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to meets objectives and deadlines.
- A control mentality coupled with excellent accounting, analytical and reporting skills.
- Possess a pro-active attitude with an ability to take responsibility, make decisions and gain respect quickly.
- Process analysis skills to identify vulnerabilities and control weaknesses.
- Ability to evaluate issues and situations and make decisions with little need for upward reference.
- Maturity and credibility to deal with brokers, senior management and colleagues at all levels and locations. Professionalism, sensitivity and high energy levels.
- Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to an exciting, dynamic and multi-cultural business.
