Role Overview

The Senior Finance Officer (SFO), EMEA, is responsible for overseeing financial performance reporting, monitoring financial resource adequacy, and submitting external prudential reports to regulators. Leading a team of 22 subject matter experts (SMEs), the ideal candidate will ensure the timely and accurate preparation of all internal and external financial reports (including Group reports), manage Board reporting requirements across the EMEA region, and maintain key external relationships with regulators and stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting & Governance
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of all internal financial performance reports across the EMEA region.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation and submission of all statutory and regulatory returns across the EMEA region.
  • Own the New Business framework for Finance, managing the financial impact of new initiatives.
  • Prepare financial and Board-level reports, including performance, capital, and dividends for the EMEA CFO. Attend smaller Board meetings as a Finance delegate when required.
  • Engage cross-functionally with Legal, particularly on litigation matters.
  • Oversee the Expected Credit Loss Framework and collaborate with Group Finance.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax information and analysis, working closely with Group Tax to ensure timely and accurate tax submissions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across the region and Group as necessary.
  • Oversee Finance submissions into the ICARA process and challenge risk models where appropriate.
  • Own the EMEA region wind-down plan and manage related activities.
  • Coordinate the WD 1 Flash process.
  • Manage the Assets Liability Committee (ALCO) for the EMEA region.
  • Support the CFO in overseeing the Client Monies framework (CASS).
  • Lead a team of 12 subject matter experts (SMEs) to execute these responsibilities.
Finance Operations
  • Monitor journal KPIs for postings made by Finance Operations team members.
  • Contribute to the development of the Finance Target Operating Model within TP ICAP as a senior leader in EMEA Finance.
  • Independently review the GL balances for completeness and accuracy, ensuring alignment with source systems to support CFO sign-off.
  • Build rapport with team leads in overseas locations to share best practices and harmonise strategies across regions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, driving continuous change across the EMEA Finance team to support the Target Operating Model.
  • Lead a team of 10 SMEs to execute these responsibilities.
External Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring efficient communication and audit processes.
  • Oversee prudential regulatory relationships across the EMEA region.
  • Attend industry workshops and seminars, summarising key insights for senior management.
  • Contribute to industry consultation papers related to financial and prudential accounts.
People Management
  • Play a pivotal role in managing and leading the team, with a strong focus on promoting accountability and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear, strategic objectives aimed at enhancing efficiency, reporting accuracy, and optimising processes, ensuring the team's efforts align with broader organisational goals.
  • Create a work environment that emphasises respect for all individuals and adheres strictly to the company's policies and guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, guidance, and support to the team, ensuring high levels of integrity, motivation, and morale are consistently maintained.

  • Ensure all team members are well-informed on how to escalate issues and manage risks, fostering open communication and quick resolution of challenges.
  • Lead by example, setting and maintaining high standards of conduct. Emphasise adherence to the company's Code of Conduct and proactively manage risk through compliant behaviours and practices.
Experience / Competences

Essential
  • Comprehensive understanding of IFRS accounting principles and local French GAAP.
  • Experience with FCA, French, NFA, and Dubai prudential reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to global regulations with a continued drive to expand regulatory knowledge and expertise.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA) with extensive post-qualification experience in leading diverse, high-performing teams in financial control roles.
  • Proven leadership skills with an inclusive, engaging style that motivates and mobilises teams effectively.
  • Ability to produce and present detailed Board papers at the executive level with clarity and confidence.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and Hyperion (HFM, Essbase, and Enterprise) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Onstream Financials and Power BI applications.
  • This role is based in London but may require occasional travel as needed.
