About the Team
Within Financial Services, the role is part of Operations Finance, a team of 30+ finance professionals.
Operations Finance is responsible for the provision of financial control and financial management services to the Operations divisions which has ~6000 FTE and a cost base of circa AUD $1 billion and is a key enabler of the Group Strategy.
We work closely with our stakeholders across the Group including Operations, Business Divisions, Group Finance and Technology to help them understand their operations costs and deliver current and future strategic and financial plans.

You will lead the Business Unit Operations Reporting and Partnering team within Operations Finance. The role partners with the Business Unit aligned Chief Operations Office leaders to understand their organisational structures, measures of performance and efficiency, and help them deliver on their strategic and financial plans. In doing so you will enable to CBA to continue demonstrate its competitive advantage in efficient transaction settlements and accordingly customer NPS.

You will make an impact helping CBA optimise the value of its operations spend through:
- Delivery of annual business plans and advice to drive Operations performance and strategy
- Forecasting - forecasts of Operations expenses through financial modelling and analysis
- Cost driver analysis, insights and recommendations
- Identifying productivity initiatives and strategies across a deep end-to-end understanding of Operations and their incoming work volumes
Key duties will include:
- Establishing and maintaining strong trusted relationships with key Operations leaders, Business Unit consumers and relevant Finance stakeholders across Financial Services
- Effective team leadership; you will have responsibility for leadership and development of the team, together with appropriate team management and resource planning.
- Preparation of high quality presentations to senior stakeholders including actionable, independent recommendations to help Operations deliver on its strategy including in-depth analysis and narrative of the Operations business and its dynamics
- Provide independent, accurate and timely financial information in line with financial reporting cycles
- Instil strong cost management disciplines and a commercial focus within Operations
- Provide insightful ad-hoc analysis and advice to drive high quality business decisions and financial performance.
- Drive continuous improvement of forecast and performance reporting processes
- Ensuring high financial data integrity by overseeing the effective operation of appropriate financial controls.

We are looking for an experienced individual (8 yrs+) that can make an immediate impact on the capability of the Operations Finance team and the quality of financial support we provide to Operations and the Business. This includes:
- Strong commercial, financial and/or management accounting skills
- Strong ability to align financial outcomes to business narrative
- Data extraction, manipulation and presentation capabilities (BI)
- The ability of bring colleagues on the journey and hold them accountable in delivering on time and to a high standard
- Good understanding of financial control and risk management frameworks
- Strong understanding of relevant accounting policies
- The ability to build positive working relationships with senior stakeholders across the Business, Operations and Finance
- A history of building and leading high performing teams.
