Job description
What does this team do?
Our Brightstart Higher Apprenticeship Programme is more than a world-class training scheme, this a permanent job. It gives you a market-leading salary, benefits, a professional qualification, and endless opportunities to learn and progress. You'll work with clients from the start, on projects that have a genuine impact on their success.
In the Channel Islands, we work with world renowned clients, both corporate and individual as well as fund and other investment institutions, helping them to navigate the everchanging tax landscape.
Jersey is a truly global jurisdiction, and we work on a broad range of projects, often with a strong international focus. From advising a FTSE 100 client on the Channel Island aspects of a transaction, to complex fund structuring and compliance to inheritance tax planning for high-net-worth individuals, you will benefit from exposure to a diverse array of projects from day one.
Our Channel Island offices in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man offer something unique; the opportunity to work for a Big Four firm whilst living in a beautiful island setting. Each island has a distinctive atmosphere with vibrant communities and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits on offer. Working in the islands presents the career opportunities found in large cities but with the benefit of short commutes and being able to take full advantage of the temperate climate as well as proximity to the sea, beautiful landscapes and nature.
Our offices may be smaller than some (c.200 colleagues across the three islands) but this doesn't mean our clients are. The Channel Islands are home to diverse and thriving financial markets giving you the opportunity to work with high profile, prestigious clients.
We work with organisations of all sizes; from rapidly growing local companies to international private equity and real estate businesses with a global reach. Our broad range of clients means that no day in our Islands' Tax practice is ever the same.
Our close-knit office community encourages plenty of hands-on experience and the chance to work closely with senior colleagues who invest in your development and career progression from day one.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards at least 104 UCAS points (260 UCAS points pre-2017) for your A levels (or equivalent) to be eligible for this programme.
What kind of work will I do?
In Tax Consulting You'll get to work with and learn from some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the industry. You'll be learning every day, from new tax legislation to technical skills, being proactive and adapting quickly to different types of work. You'll have the opportunity to work with FTSE 100 organisations, start-ups and private individuals, helping them solve some of the most complex issues their business is ever likely to face.
You will attend The Tax Analyst Academy in your first weeks at Deloitte. During this time, you will get the opportunity to meet your peers and learn the soft skills and technical skills to operate as a tax professional from day one in the office.
You will then participate in the Tax Analyst Development two year programme designed to prepare you for promotion to Consultant. The programme comprises of on-the-job learning, core training, and study for professional qualification training. Whilst working at Deloitte you will get the opportunity to work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
What's in it for me?
This is more than a world-class training scheme that includes a professional qualification, it's also a permanent job that gives you a market-leading salary, benefits and endless opportunities driven by our shared sense of purpose:
How will I develop?
Soft skills
To support you, we invest heavily in both your technical skills and soft skills (e.g. communication skills, ability to challenge, decision-making, resilience, project management and leadership skills). These will help you to become a successful business professional and allow you to navigate different situations that you'll encounter during your career.
Qualifications
As part of your Brightstart opportunity, you'll be studying towards either the ACA or ACCA qualification. Both qualifications are globally recognised and are designed to expand your knowledge of a wide range of technical topic areas. They'll help you confidently work on projects and initiatives, and develop professionally throughout your training.
Whilst professional exams can be challenging, and will require a commitment from you, we in turn commit to providing you with the right support network to help you succeed. You'll be given funded top-quality tuition, with a mix of classroom and self-managed learning sessions, a dedicated early careers coach, a People Leader and access to support from our professional education team.
Our commitment to you
We work hard to create an environment where you can experience a purpose you believe in, the freedom to be you, and the capacity to go further than ever before.
We want you. The true you. Your own strengths, perspective and personality. We're nurturing a culture where everyone belongs, feels supported and heard, and is empowered to make a valuable, personal contribution. You can be sure we'll take your wellbeing seriously, too. Because it's only when you're comfortable and at your best that you can make the kind of impact you, and we, live for.
Your expertise is our capability, so we'll make sure it never stops growing. Whether it's from the complex work you do, or the people you collaborate with, you'll learn every day. Through world-class development, you'll gain invaluable technical and personal skills. Whatever your level, you'll learn how to lead.
Application Deadline
Applications for our BrightStart Apprenticeship Programme will close on a rolling basis when we have enough applications We therefore advise that you apply as soon as possible so that you don't miss out on securing a role.
