Purpose
Direct and monitor the financial performances of GAM offices located in the Asia Pacific region to ensure it adheres to the organisation's overall business goals and strategy.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly financial and management reporting duties for Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong & Japan
- Monitor and provide input to corporate's financial performance to ensure it adheres to the organisation's overall business goals and strategy, and improve financial efficiency;
- Maintain proper accounting and management reporting systems to provide timely and accurate financial and management information on the Company and other offices in the region;
- Support regional strategies with a financial lens
- Partner across the region to ensure consistency across locations
- Ensure all corporate transactions are properly and accurately accounted for;
- Ensure all regulatory returns and government statistical surveys are properly and accurately prepared;
- Efficient tax planning and timely tax compliance;
- Establish and maintain regulatory reports to meet local regulations and legislations
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to manage the restructuring projects in Asia (in particular the wind-down/liquidation of the Hong Kong business)
- Manage statutory auditors and internal auditor to ensure smooth completion of group financial audit
- Collaborate with global team to oversee centralised AP, AR and procurement functions
- Recognise potential risks that pose negative impact on the business and assist the group management to review management plans to minimise the risks
- Co-ordinate with other GAM offices to formulate accounting policies and procedures
- Provide local support for HR and Corporate Services related enquiries
- Oversight of third-party accounting firm in Japan
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time depending on the strategic and operational needs of the organisation, and will be communicated in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- University graduate and ideally should be CA/CPA/ACCA qualified.
- 10+ years post qualification experience working for a multi-national organisation (with 5 years of experience in the fund management industry)
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (SFRS / IFRS)
- Ability to balance local v regional requirements and work effectively in a matrixed organisation
- Experience in cross border billing / recharges / processes/ financial systems and finance databases
- Regional experience managing Japan is preferred
- Fluency in English
