Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
This is a pivotal North America Finance position on the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team with a focus on income statement analysis, including changes in profitability and ratio analysis. Critical qualities to succeed include the ability to take ownership, identify and recommend remediation for issues independently through problem solving and developing relationships with finance leaders across the organization, as well as a desire to continuously grow in the role and build on insurance knowledge.

Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis

Critical qualities to succeed include the ability to take ownership, identify and recommend remediation for issues independently through problem solving and developing relationships with finance leaders across the organization, as well as a desire to continuously grow in the role and build on insurance knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own key deliverables, including P&L dollar and ratio roll forwards, summary memos, senior management presentations, and various other analyses; that support planning, forecasting and ledger close activities.
- Analyze P&L results for North America business units, particularly as it relates to underwriting income and ratio results compared to plan, forecast, and prior year.
- Support corporate deliverables (e.g. Earnings Call commentary, MD&A disclosures and Financial Supplement analysis) and ad hoc requests.
- Establish and develop relationships with various stakeholders and business partners, including divisional finance teams, corporate FP&A, expense management and others; to facilitate value-added analysis and business commentary.
- Manage and develop staff.
Qualifications
Competencies:
- Ability to work effectively and independently with other disciplines and all levels of management/staff throughout the organization.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong analytical skills including the use of various internal system applications to gather and analyze data (including Excel, TM1, PeopleSoft, BAR, Vision, etc.)
- Ability to problem solve and work autonomously to manage and prioritize multiple projects, people and stakeholders.
- Constant evaluation of processes for improvements and efficiencies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business with an Accounting/Finance major (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a large public company in an accounting or financial analysis role, or large/Big 4 firm in an auditing role
- CPA, MBA or CPCU candidates (preferred)
- Insurance accounting/financial knowledge/previous FP&A experience (preferred)
