Assistant Accountant required for a leading technology business in Melbourne CBD Your new company
This is a well-known, international technology business with extensive global operations and a big presence in Melbourne. The company are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant for their established finance team in the Melbourne CBD, on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful applicant will be required to go into the office 1-2 times per week, and will receive excellent career development opportunities and progression. This role will provide support and assistance with accounting processes for the business, working amongst an established finance team. The role will ensure that the accounting function operates smoothly, ensuring all relevant procedures are up-to-date and accurate, whilst also supporting the wider business on further finance matters when required. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure coding of invoices, vouchers and requisitions are posted to the correct GL account and cost centre.
  • Manage intercompany billings, transactions and fixed asset register.
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations for multiple subsidiaries.
  • Balance sheet and intercompany balance reconciliations.
  • Complete month end duties that have been assigned including: accruals, journals, cost allocations and other adhoc duties.
  • Assist the Finance manager with other reporting, tax compliance and audit as assigned.
  • Other duties to support the team.
  • What you'll need to succeed
    In order to be considered for this role, you will have:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • You will be working towards your CPA or CA qualification.
  • You will need to have full working rights in Australia being either a permanent resident or citizen.
  • Thrives under pressure in a complex business, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, autonomously and as part of a wider team
  • Have knowledge and understanding of month-end processes.
  • Be a strong communicator with an excellent ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • If you have Peoplesoft or Workday experience this would be advantageous, but is not essential.

The role offers a salary up to $75,000 plus super, along with an annual bonus (performance dependent) and is a permanent position. This position is based in the company's office in Melbourne's CBD on a flexible hybrid basis, and you will be expected to attend the office 1 to 2 days per week.
