Role Summary:
Highly skilled and experienced Direct Tax Compliance Oversight and Tax Risk Manager responsible for overseeing our global direct tax compliance and managing tax risk processes and governance for the Group. This role is critical in ensuring that the Group adheres to all relevant tax regulations and mitigates any potential tax-related risks.

Role Summary:
Highly skilled and experienced Direct Tax Compliance Oversight and Tax Risk Manager responsible for overseeing our global direct tax compliance and managing tax risk processes and governance for the Group. This role is critical in ensuring that the Group adheres to all relevant tax regulations and mitigates any potential tax-related risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Tax Compliance Oversight:
- Oversee the Group's tax compliance processes to ensure adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
- Manage delivery of inputs, to tax compliance process, prepared by the in-house tax team,
- Review deliverables from third party outsourced provider prior to finalization and submission to tax authorities.
- Manage tax payment processes, including calculation of quarterly instalment payments in the UK and oversight of outsourced tax payment processes in respect of the Group's overseas entities.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax compliance processes.
Advisory and Support:
- Research tax technical matters to minimise tax risk and maximise opportunities for tax benefits, eg. Research and Development tax credits
- Provide tax compliance specialist input to group projects, including business transactions and changes to operating models.
- Respond to ad hoc queries and tax audits raised by HMRC and overseas tax authorities, working with external advisors to resolve queries, where appropriate
- Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and, where required, be involved in ensuring the Group is prepared to comply with new requirements.
- Identify and manage tax risks within area of responsibility
Tax Risk Management:
- Be risk champion and coordinator for the Tax function and manage tax risk management framework.
- Implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax risk management process.
- Ensure that tax risk management practices are aligned with the wider Finance risk management framework and the Group's overall risk management strategy.
- Provide strategic advice on tax risk mitigation and management.
- Manage the annual refresh of the Group's Tax Risk Policy and Tax Strategy.
- Manage relationship with HMRC and provide Subject Matter Expert support on Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Support regular reporting on tax risk and tax compliance matters to senior management and the board.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax risk assessments, compliance activities, and related policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA) is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in direct tax compliance, preferably within the financial services sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK tax laws and regulations, with some experience of International tax compliance and knowledge and experience of tax risk management, desirable.
- Ability to work independently and drive forward work but also enjoy being part of a wider team working to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- Proven track record of successfully managing tax compliance and tax risk in a complex organizational environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels and convey complex tax concepts in a simple manner
