As an Associate in our Tax Team, you will play a key role in engaging with a diverse portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on building and maintaining long-term, trusting relationships. You will support various aspects of tax services, including the management of mobile employees, employment tax, tax disputes and controversies, as well as rewards, equity, and compensation. Additionally, you will be involved in consulting on mobility policies, processes, and governance. Your role will require collaboration with a team of problem solvers to address complex business issues and deliver innovative solutions, from strategy through to execution.

Job Description:
As an Associate in our Tax Team, you will play a key role in engaging with a diverse portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on building and maintaining long-term, trusting relationships. You will support various aspects of tax services, including the management of mobile employees, employment tax, tax disputes and controversies, as well as rewards, equity, and compensation. Additionally, you will be involved in consulting on mobility policies, processes, and governance. Your role will require collaboration with a team of problem solvers to address complex business issues and deliver innovative solutions, from strategy through to execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage an exclusive portfolio of clients with internationally deployed employees, focusing on end-to-end tax compliance for both clients and their employees.
- Develop effective tax minimization strategies and identify tax planning opportunities to reduce costs, including addressing cross-border tax matters.
- Provide accurate, practical, and proactive individual and employment tax advice, including guidance on double tax agreements, tax residency changes, and other tax planning concerns for mobile employees.
- Serve as the primary contact for employees and a point of contact for client management teams, including HR, finance, and tax departments.
- Analyze complex tax proposals and ideas, crafting a range of meaningful recommendations.
- Use multiple information sources and consider broader stakeholder perspectives to develop comprehensive solutions.
- Participate proactively in marketing and business development activities to identify and explore new client opportunities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and market developments to apply commercial and technical expertise effectively.
- Contribute to the creation of a positive working environment by monitoring team workloads, ensuring client expectations are met, and respecting team members' work-life balance.
- Actively resolve issues that hinder effective teamwork, even during times of change and uncertainty.
- Coach and mentor peers and team members, encouraging them to take ownership of their development.
- Manage a variety of perspectives to build consensus and foster positive outcomes.
- Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
- Manage engagements effectively, preparing concise and accurate documents, and balancing project management with the handling of unanticipated issues.
- Keep leadership informed of progress and emerging issues.
Qualifications:
- 0-5 years of related experience in tax services.
- Experience with tax filing and compliance processes.
- Understanding of Double Taxation Agreements (DTAs).
- Basic knowledge of international tax laws, especially for multinational clients.
- Strong skills in tax regulations and laws, tax compliance software, tax audit support, international taxation, and tax research.
- Competency in data privacy and security and client documentation compliance.
- Proficient in cross-cultural communication and client engagement.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Professional Certifications (Optional but Preferred): Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) membership, Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) certification, ACCA, CPA, or ICAEW
