Join us and you'll work on challenging projects within an international and supportive environment. You'll also be introduced to career challenges that will take you into exciting new professional territory.
The opportunity
At EY, our Financial Services Assurance Team is fully integrated, working across borders to help clients deal with issues that are critical to their success, and winning new business as a result.
Extended Assurance is part of our Financial Services Assurance Advisory practice and provides ongoing advice and assurance to regulators, management and directors on the governance, processes and controls that are not part of the financial statements audit. We work with clients to provide advice and assurance that an organisation's business activities, processes and controls are operating effectively and in line with regulations where applicable. This is delivered through the appropriate use of assurance skills, robust audit and other methodologies, coupled with industry insight in the Financial Services industry.
Your key responsibilities
Everything you do will be focussed on delivering exceptional services for our clients. You will work in complex multi-disciplinary teams, with responsibility for the overall execution of smaller projects and individual components of larger projects, under the guidance and direction of Managers, Directors and Partners. Your goal will be to help clients achieve their objectives - and you can expect to do the same.
What is CASS? When clients of a UK regulated firm give their investment money or assets for safekeeping (client assets), that firm is required to protect the money or assets in accordance with the Financial Conduct Authority's CASS rules. We provide advice and assurance over the firm's systems and controls to comply with those rules.
As part of the Extended Assurance Client Assets (CASS) team, you can expect to work on the execution of a variety of projects, including:
• CASS audits - reasonable assurance on compliance with client money and custody asset rules (for larger and more complex regulated financial services firms)
• CASS one-off reviews - providing findings and recommendations on an area requested by our client, e.g. governance, client money reconciliations, insolvency arrangements
• Skilled Person reviews - as requested by the regulator
• Other safeguarding engagements - providing assurance on payments and digital assets which are subject to new and emerging regulations
• Specialist support - as you gain knowledge of CASS, providing technical support to smaller CASS audits and client control functions e.g. Internal Audit
• Support for other areas of Extended Assurance e.g. Prudential regulation (liquidity and capital risk management), governance, process and controls, business conduct (including Consumer Duty), financial benchmark assurance
• Internal projects and initiatives - supporting our quality, risk management, firmwide training and business development
Skills and attributes for success
Colleagues and clients from a diverse array of backgrounds will look to you first for answers, so you'll be a prominent contact when it comes to resolving complex issues. You will have the team giving you their full support. As you build your knowledge and experience, you'll become a credible advisor, influencing clients and teams on resolutions that will impact entire engagements. You'll also be introduced to career challenges that will take you into exciting new professional territory.
• Demonstrating intellect, drive, focus, and the ability to succeed in a dynamic and demanding environment
• Delivering a first-class customer experience on high-profile engagements, in compliance with the firm's and industry standards
• Flexible working style to encompass hybrid working - office, home, and client site. You will be expected to work at least 3 days at the office or client site
• While most of our clients are based in London, occasional travel will be required to offices outside of London.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
• Financial Services sector experience, either in Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management, or Insurance
• Experience of working in financial services audit, assurance, risk or internal controls
Ideally, you'll also have:
• Experience of CASS audits and advisory projects,
• Chartered Accountant or equivalent industry qualification
• Audit or Assurance experience in a professional services firm or in industry with a blue-chip employer
• Proven experience of working effectively in a team
