About the role

In your role as Head of Data Governance you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.

This role will provide a great opportunity to establish and maintain a robust data governance framework, policies, and practices to ensure that data is well managed, safeguarded and maximised.

This senior role plays a critical part in driving data-related strategies that support USSIM's strategic objectives.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Operations you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the USSIM Head of Data Oversight in the development and implementation of a comprehensive data governance plan, aligned with USSIM's data strategy, goals and regulatory requirements
  • Establishing and maintain a formal data governance framework that includes policies, procedures, and standards
  • Support the implementation of the data ownership model across USSIM, including assigning different data roles responsible for managing and maintaining data, and supporting individuals to execute their roles and responsibilities for data
  • Driving the data culture at USSIM, designing and implementing an ongoing USSIM training programme
  • Providing subject matter expertise to support the selection of data governance tools, and technology solutions for data governance processes
  • Being a key advisor and team player in the strategic data programme, working collaboratively to deliver USSIM's data strategy
  • Establishing the connections between Data Governance and other frameworks - Operational Risk, Information Security etc
  • Being an ambassador to ensure that best practices are effectively embedded in data projects
  • Providing regular updates and reports on data governance initiatives to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders
  • Communicating data governance issues, progress, and outcomes to relevant stakeholders and senior management across USSIM
  • Supporting the Head of Data Oversight on the ongoing coordination of the USSIM Data Oversight Committee

About you

To be successful in the role you will have:
  • Data practitioner with proven experience in implementing and maintaining data governance practices which are aligned to business need and advance data maturity
  • Excellent understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, data architecture, and data management
  • Experience working in Investment Management, with an excellent understanding of the data which underpins Investment Management activities
  • Experience with implementing and operating data governance tools, and an understanding of enterprise data platforms, cloud technologies, and data mastering solutions
  • Good understanding of data architecture, data quality, and data management best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, dynamic yet practical and hands-on individual who wants to make a difference in a team working environment
  • Experience working in large data programmes and projects is desirable
