In this internship, you will have the opportunity to work with a winning Middle Market team for a top 20 Bank, with career opportunities throughout First Citizens Bank. Known for building long-term relationships and providing high-touch service to clients, First Citizens' new "best-in-class" Middle Market banking team will promote a collaborative client experience and tap trusted subject matter experts to provide clients with customized business solutions. First Citizens Middle Market Banking delivers a range of financial solutions to midsize clients through a relationship banking model. The business offers deposit solutions, loans, treasury services and other banking products to manufacturers, distributors and a wide variety of service industries.
In this internship, you will learn how to deliver a full suite of Middle Market banking products and services including loans, deposits, treasury management services, interest rate products, capital markets, wealth management and other fee income business. A few areas of focus include credit framework and analysis, the prospecting process to acquire new clients and how to expand existing client relationships. Additionally, you will discover how to operate as a trusted partner working with other lines of business as well as how to build and manage full banking relationships.
Responsibilities
While a majority of the principal accountabilities are assigned by the intern's direct manager, there is a determined effort across the Bank to make each intern a dynamic part of the team with interesting projects. Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support. Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events while having a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
Each intern will be assigned a project which will be designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that will be presented at the close of the internship. A wrap-up presentation will be prepared by the Interns to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline their accomplishments and experience during the internship.
Internship Dates: 5/28/2025 - 8/01/2025
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of work experience. Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during time of summer program)
Ability to work 40 hours per week throughout the duration of the program.
Preferred Qualifications:
3.0 GPA or higher
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Strong desire to learn and grow
Positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others
Critical thinking skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs
Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
