Value Partners Investments is looking for an addition to our small high performance Global Equity team which runs our VPI Global Equity Pool, VPI Income Pool, VPI Sustainability Leaders Pool, VPI Special Opportunities Pool and VPIC US Income Mandate.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn a wide variety of essential skills in the investment industry and participate in our goal of building one of the greatest fund management teams in Canada with a driven focus on building wealth for clients of Value Partners Investments. This includes:
Equity research on international businesses for our Global Equity Pool
Sustainability-focused equity research for our Sustainability Leaders Pool
Currency hedging strategies
Private equity, shorting, derivatives and other options strategies in our Special Opportunities Pool
Full lifecycle management of equity and derivative trading from execution to settlement
End-to-end understanding of the design, operations, and investment management of mutual funds and investment mandates
Opportunities to build public speaking skills through presentations to clients and financial advisors to help them understand what they own and why they own it

The Global Equity Research Analyst is responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
Equity and industry research (40%)
Monitoring current businesses held within of Pools and Mandates
Includes monitoring news flow and generating earnings reports within the analyst’s coverage list
Recommending new businesses for inclusion into Pools and Mandates
Analyst will be assigned sector-level coverage and will be responsible for covering that sector’s leading businesses. Analyst may also recommend companies outside of their coverage for inclusion
Fund operations (30%)
Trade execution including equity (long/short), options (put/call), and currency trades through Bloomberg
Monitoring complete trade lifecycle to ensure timely trade settlement
Updating daily cash and security positions in internal fund management system for Pools and Mandates manages
Pool presentation and marketing material content (30%)
Content creation for quarterly newsletters, buy/sell notifications, update videos and Investment Committee presentations
Generate and deliver presentation content which helps clients understand what they own
Updating recurring marketing materials and providing Marketing Department with information as needed
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Undergraduate degree in a related field (Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.).
CFA designation or enrolled in the CFA program preferred.
Investment industry experience preferred but not required.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of fundamental equity analysis and valuation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Teams preferred.
Working knowledge of Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ functionality preferred.
Programming skills (i.e. Python, VBA) preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Sound analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Strong collaboration skills combined with the ability to work independently.
A proactive and resourceful approach to work is required.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (verbally and written).
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
