The Role:

The Head of Finance leads the delivery of financial planning, performance analysis, statutory reporting, tax, and audit objectives for Hannover Re's UK entities. You will support the development of the UK's strategy through the delivery of insightful management reporting, identification and exploration of emerging issues, and innovative problem solving.

You will be a trusted adviser to the CFO and senior management team as a whole to ensure the delivery of strong long-term financial performance for the Branch.

You will incorporate your knowledge of process redesign and implementation, ensuring existing deliverables are met whilst also investing in business transformation to deliver our future operating model.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead a high-performance team in Financial Accounting, steering the team vision and strategy, coaching, and developing staff, managing performance.
• Encourage challenge, trust, accountability as well as open communication and feedback among team members and across the Branch.
• Design and implement systems and process improvements to enhance the operational effectiveness of the team in line with Group strategy.
• Develop and maintain excellent standards of control, governance, and documentation across the UK financial accounting processes.
• Own the delivery of consistent and accurate financial reporting for local management, Group, and external stakeholders across IFRS, Solvency II, UK GAAP, and German GAAP bases, for plan, forecasts, and actual performance across the Branch and the Hannover Re UK entities.
• Create insightful financial analysis and present results to management on entity, treaty, and product level performance, including appropriate KPIs and KRIs.
• Oversee the Branch's retrocession accounting and administration processes.
• Deliver high-quality treasury processes, including investment reporting, liquidity management, and asset-liability matching structures.
• Deliver high quality expense management and reporting processes, embedding effective controls and a culture of cost consciousness.
• Oversee the delivery of direct and indirect tax processes, computations and filing for the UK tax group and relevant entities.
• Oversee the delivery of the statutory audit processes for the UK entities.
• Build effective and sustainable relationships across the Branch and with Group to strengthen cross-departmental working and collaboration.
• Using expert knowledge and application of IFRS accounting requirements, support commercial and reporting initiatives to optimise value creation for the Group.
• Act as subject matter expert for accounting concepts, standards, and policies.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of external developments that may impact Branch operations and finances. Deliver effective solutions to mitigate risks and take advantage of opportunities.
• Lead the delivery of UK financial accounting projects, as well as UK participation in Group projects.
• Manage internal and external audit activities in respect of finance and accounting deliverables.

About You:

Qualifications Required:
• Qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA)

Experience:
• Leading and developing high-performance teams.
• Managing delivery of requirements for financial and regulatory reporting cycles.
• Delivering process improvement.
• Fostering cross-departmental collaboration.

Technical Skills:
• 7 years+ post-qualification experience in an insurance/ reinsurance business.
• Experienced accountant with strong knowledge of IFRS and Solvency II.
• Management of teams delivering financial processes.
• Financial process and control design and implementation.
• Experience working with enterprise financial systems - experience with SAP an asset.
