Finance Controller, Assistant Vice President (M/F)
Permanent Position

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Luxembourg, this function has responsibilities which span both our Luxembourg & Ireland entities.
The Controller is responsible for financial management, budgeting, forecasting and control for the Luxembourg / Ireland region. He / she will combine baseline finance knowledge and functionality with a focus on analysis and supporting business development.
He / she works closely as a business partner with TA Senior Management in both locations; other IFDS locations which provide accounting and finance support as well as with the other stakeholders.
Given the cross-company nature of the structure, the Controller liaises daily with the dedicated IFDS accounting personnel based in Canada.

The role has broad responsibilities and requires both significant hands-on work as well as the maturity to run projects and provide guidance and leadership to other team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Monthly accounting close Luxembourg / Ireland, in conjunction with finance team based in Canada
  • Assist in preparing and submitting cash flows, forecasts, budgets for Luxembourg / Ireland
  • Reviewing and finalizing VAT and tax information prepared by the accounting team for submission to our VAT and tax advisors
  • Analysing results against forecast and budget and provide advice regarding remedial action, if required
  • Preparing and submitting financial reporting to our stakeholders
  • Review and approve invoices for payment
  • Preparing ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required
  • Provide support to the CFO as required
  • Delegate for the CFO in case of absence
  • Assist in pricing new business and in setting up new revenue opportunities

Occasional travel may be required.

Competency requirements:

Education:
  • Master degree in Finance / Accounting, Management or Economics
  • Accounting qualification (CA, CPA,...) is desirable

Professional Experience:
  • 7+ years of applicable business experience
  • Proven track record in analytical role with strong financial discipline, skills and knowledge
  • Good accounting knowledge
  • Experience in financial services sector would be an advantage
  • Previous role as accounting manager, head of finance or senior controller would be an advantage
  • Previous exposure to VAT and Tax reporting would be an advantage
  • Experience at a Big Four accounting firm or internal audit would be an advantage

Technical skills:
  • Ability to work independently and together with colleagues across different locations
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with all levels of local and regional management
  • Fluent in both oral and written English
  • Good working knowledge of either French or German
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite
