About the Role

Responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of a particular area on either full-time or part-time basis, with the aim of learning practical knowledge of the business area, the company and the industry

Job Description

The Actuarial Department of AIA Hong Kong consists of various functions. As an actuarial intern, you will have an unique 6-month experience to expose into different functions/sections during the internship period.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Actuarial Department - Product Development
  • Main function of the product team would be to develop new products, review existing product performance and actual operational experience.
  • Performing data analysis and generate product financials through the use of spreadsheet and/or Prophet models
  • Checking on IT systems related to product administration
  • Preparing data and calculation for experience/claim monitoring
2) Actuarial Department - Reporting
  • Integrated Reporting Team (IRT) is responsible for providing the shareholder reporting, regulatory reporting, business projections & forecast and projects & initiatives.
  • The Department is further divided into different sections for different valuation basis, which would be used for internal management and external disclosure purpose.
  • Performing the calculation and data extraction for financial report to assist the regular reporting process.
  • Verification of the calculation in the financial models under different reporting basis
  • Performing analysis and explanation of results
  • Handle ad-hoc projects and other duties as required
3) Capital Management Department
  • The team performs different risk-based analysis to support business strategies' formulation from capital preceptive.
  • Perform the calculation, data extraction and checking for stress capital/economic capital reporting by using Prophet models
  • Perform control and checking on the Prophet models to ensure the result consistency and quality
4) Capital Planning & Optimisation
  • The team performs various stochastic analysis to support the formulation of financial strategies from capital preceptive.
  • Perform sensitivity runs on the capital positions under economical basis through the use of spreadsheet to understand the key risk drivers on capital
  • Support the testing of various financial strategies and analyzing the implication on capital position of the company
Job Requirements:
  • University students major i n Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Insurance or Finance with strong mathematics background
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Prophet, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or other computer programming language is an advantage
The incumbent is required to acquire relevant license if the job involves in regulated activities
