Governments and other public sector entities are increasingly aware of the various risks they absorb as explicit or implicit risk takers. We strive to develop business opportunities with the public sector by systematically approaching national and municipal governments, NGOs and development banks in a coordinated way across the Group. We provide risk transfer solutions to reduce the contingent liabilities of governments. These solutions range from non-traditional products such as cat bonds for pandemics to reinsurance coverages for SMEs for a changing climate.

While the team increasingly reaches out into other lines of business (including life and health reinsurance and data analytics), large natural catastrophes as well as large-scale weather-related risks remain at the very core of our business success.

About the Role:

Are you a highly motivated, entrepreneurial-minded and tenacious person ready to take on an exciting role?

Our role within Public Sector Solutions (PSS) team will allow you to further develop and gain professional expertise as a member of PSS Product Management team of Swiss Re (Public Sector Solutions | Swiss Re).

The successful candidate will be part of the global, culturally diverse, interdisciplinary team in charge of structuring innovative risk transfer solutions aimed to strengthen societal resilience and close the protection gap both in advanced and developing economies, with a focus on life and health related products.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your analytical and negotiation skills, build internal and external key relationships, but also, to become an expert in modelling, data analysis, and risk pricing by working very closely with the regional PSS Products and Client Management team as well as interacting with the Product teams throughout Swiss Re Group.

While technical abilities and project management skill will be core criteria for the role, the ability to present technical complexities into easy-to-understand client solutions and thrive in a dynamic, team-focused environment are of equal importance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop analytics, structuring, and visualization of large datasets, crossing between underwriting performance and financial metrices (IFRS17, EVM)
  • Assist actuaries and client managers in experience studies and benchmarking exercise for life and health products offered across different markets
  • Support the team in research/review of published reports/studies to design solutions that are in line with Swiss Re's risk appetite and market demand
  • Work and collaborate with a diverse group of internal cross-functional teams which include client markets, financial planning and analysis, pricing, and related underwriting, risk management as well as general business management functions
  • Support the team in developing go-to-market strategy and marketing materials for transaction opportunities.
  • Portfolio management & steering: Support the team to broaden its footprint in the intersection between (re)insurance and finance with a specific focus on life & health lines of business

About You:
  • Bachelor or Master degree from an accredited college completed in fields such as finance, actuarial science, mathematics, economics, accounting, finance, finance ordata analytics or public policies/relations. IT.
  • Previous experience in the field of or related to the financial service industry, life or health insurance, consulting , will be a plus (e.g., industry practice, internships).
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to transform data into applicable insights required.
  • Interest and proven ability to research for data in the public space, extracting, synthesizing, and analyzing the information for downstream application.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English required - for interaction with clients, business partners, and senior colleagues. Additional Southeast Asian language such as Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai is desirable.
  • Proficiently in Excel, PowerPoint, Word experience required.
  • Passionate in areas such as societal resilience, financial inclusion.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manage simultaneous projects and deadlines while delivering high quality results.
  • Proactive, innovative, and curiosity-driven problem solver.
  • Team player with enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment and who lives Swiss Re's Leadership & Personal Imperatives with a strong desire to work with and learn from others.
