Investment Analyst/Equity Trader

M3F, Inc. is an SEC registered investment advisor based in Salt Lake City, UT.  M3F serves as the advisor to M3 Partners, LP, a long/short investment fund that focuses exclusively on the publicly traded financial services sector, with an emphasis on community bank and thrift stocks. The fund is managed using in-depth fundamental analysis and a travel intensive research process where meetings with management and geographic analysis are a core part of our strategy. 

We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Analyst/Equity Trader to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of equity markets, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to execute trades in low liquidity stocks with precision, discipline, and patience.  Additionally, the successful candidate will support the portfolio managers through research, identifying investment opportunities, analyzing existing investments as well as other aspects of the firm including operations, investor communications, and reporting. 

The position requires initiative, strong verbal and written communication skills, resourcefulness, and strong analytical abilities. A strong passion for the stock market and investment analysis is required, and experience with making investments in the banking or financial services sector is beneficial.  A degree in accounting, finance, or economics is preferred, but we value motivation, strong reasoning, analytical ability, and a proven passion for investing over scholastic achievements and certifications.  Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and databases used to collect and analyze financial data is a plus. 

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
