This role will have a particular focus on accurate and timely posting of Non-Insurance Accounting (NIA) expense journals, clearing of intercompany variances, and completeness of post month-end reports and reconciliations, as well as responsibility for integrity of underlying financial data in the general ledger.
Responsibilities:
• Preparation of medium to high complexity BAU journals/ reports/ reconciliations throughout the month.
• Review and approval of the journals/reports/balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Specialists/ Analysts.
• Analysis of the completeness and accuracy of journals such as accruals and those affecting recharges.
• Investigation and clearing of intercompany variances and other account variances.
• Processing of other PE activities such as, but not limited to:
o TB downloads
o Revaluations
o Payment allocations
o Working calculations template
o Fixed asset creation
o Restatement of Historical average rates
o Movement analysis
o Other tasks assigned
Required knowledge, skills and experience:
• Advanced knowledge of Finance and Accounting principles and practices
• Working knowledge of General Accounting function, and other related processes, procedures and solutions
• Intermediate knowledge of appropriate regulatory and statutory frameworks
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Insurance industry and QBE's business
• Intermediate knowledge and experience of multinational organizations and dealing with global transactions and arrangements
• Extensive knowledge of Financial systems (e.g. Oracle platform, Blackline)
• Strong skills in spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High proficiency in MS tools
• Very good attention to detail
• Ability to work on a local and global team, as well as collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Intermediate to advanced problem-solving skills and analytical skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Can perform with minimal supervision from Team Leader
• At least 3-4 years' experience in a similar role in the finance industry
• College graduate with a relevant degree in Accounting or Finance
• Preferably with 2 years audit, insurance and/or shared services experience
• CPA is an advantage
